Ready to Assemble Kitchen Cabinets: A Friendly Guide

For those of you who don’t know, I am in the process of helping my best friend remodel her kitchen. After a few days, we’ve managed to scrub the walls free of stains, patch holes in the drywall and add a fresh coat of paint. The kitchen was now a serene mint green color, and it was simply breathtaking. It’s been decided that my kitchen is getting the works just as soon as I’m done with this project.

We also added a few of her favorite art pieces to the walls to add some balance to the room. All that was missing was the ready to assemble kitchen cabinets that we ordered last week. They were scheduled to arrive today. I’ve been reading up on helpful tips and tools for installing ready to assemble kitchen cabinets, and I was feeling pretty confident. In fact, I was almost feeling cocky. But, I’m sure once I started that feeling would go right out the window.

When I got the call that the wood cabinets had been delivered, I rushed over to her house; I was ready to put my newly learned skills to use.

Sure enough, the cabinets looked just as I imagined: boards, bolts and nails. It was exciting to see a pile of lumber and know that in only an hour or so, they were going to be transformed into beautiful cherry stained wood cabinets. I couldn’t wait to dive in!

Clearly, my friend didn’t do any research on the project. She stared at the pile of lumber scratching her head and asking me where to start. I whipped out my cordless drill and told her to step aside. All it took was a little research and understanding of the pieces, and I was flying through the work. The estimated project time was 60 minutes, according to the directions. I finished in 47 minutes, flat, thank you very much!
